Poetry update- accepted by Free Verse Revolution

Excited to share with you all that my poem has found home in Free Verse Revolution Issue IV: hades (the unseen). It was pure fun and fulfilment writing on this theme! Looking forward to the release of the upcoming issue on Hades. We shall be treated to some awesome poetry I am sure. Meanwhile do check out the earlier issues https://freeverserevolution.com/issues/

Thanks to Kristiana Reed for the appreciation, and acceptance of my poem.

Those of you who haven’t stepped into the world of Hades and Persephone do hit the net and choose to lose your way out of the dark alleys.

Happy Monday. Stay healthy and smiling!

rain

It’s almost ages the Sun warmed my skin. The kind of showers we are seeing this year no wonder if the city wakes up in the middle of a rain sea. Along the coast rain continues to whip. Fury or sorrow, the sky seems to be in no mood to let go. Dreaming of sunny days ahead.

Stay warm and stay sunny!

On haikuniverse today…

It’s Diwali and the best way to celebrate light and poetry! Thanks Haikuniverse.

Meanwhile …

असतो मा साद गमय, तमसो मा ज्योतिर् गमय, मृत्योर मा अमृतम् गमय
(Asato Ma Sad Gamaya, Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya, Mrityor Ma Amritam Gamaya)
Lead us from ignorance to truth, Lead us from darkness to light, Lead us from death to deathlessness.

Wish everyone a very happy Diwali. Celebrate life…celebrate light!

Listen…it’s telling us something!

Onion peeling is a therapy wherein you get to the core of the issue after cutting through its layers, one by one. When you peel and chop an onion, literally, you don’t have to swallow your sorrow. You can happily cry because no one can tell onion tears from actual tears. That little irony and relief might in fact make you smile through your tears.

sorrow finds its way
downpour of salt and the sea
onion therapy

Small tricks can come in very handy for kitchen persons. Cooking and cleaning together work like therapy not only for the body but also for the mind. Finding food for soul while cooking leads to unexpected enlightenment, and sometimes quick fixes for the soul.

masterpiece weavers

cornered in a niche

Profound philosophies are hidden in simple everyday chores. It’s about doing things consciously. Your mind, like an open magnet catches the totems and learns to decode them.

The spider symbolizes maya, the illusion, and in some other contexts, creativity, perseverance, mortality, cunningness and what not! It’s so charmed by its own abilities that it gets entangled in its own web. Cornered in all senses, it’s busy creating its own niche. The irony is that the niche so architected to perfection stays hidden in the darkest alleys. Something that is so purely personal and self-centered can never hold a beacon to the world. As is destined to be, a light breeze sweeps it off casually like it were nothing.

Happy Monday, stay safe and healthy. Heal from within and help heal.

taking off from the punway – haiku

Since the past few months I am finding paronomasia very relaxing. Doesn’t sound so much pun, but it is…the proper word for not so proper use of words. It’s an officially unofficial, creative usage of words to bring in humor or irony or simply playfulness. I don’t know how far one could run with pun. But it is all spirity and sporty if exercised with caution.
Beyond what it’s meant for, a fair play, it is anything but punning. If we are keen to be mean then it’s gunning, not punning.

I would rather be punny wise than found foolish not to know the difference between cunning and punning.

Always fun to take to haiku- since it’s been raining, here’s my haiku shooting a rainbow.

rain bows to the sky
walks the earth in dripping shoes
sheltered ‘neath colours

Have a happunning Tuesday!

Satireday, a pov – haiku enclosed

Truth is different from different points of views
Rising Sun and setting Sun paint the sky with the same colors. The Sun dips in the ocean here and rises on the other side of the globe. What we see is our truth, sunrise to some and sunset to some. In fact truth is like the Sun and it is what it is, pure, stable and blinding. It is about the shift in the point of view. Where we are positioned decides our truth.

the sun is rising
from the ocean, into it
the sun is setting

Each one to his own point of view. Again collectively it is points of view or point of views or points of views.
It’s a Satireday from my point of view today.

Advantage is a privilege…

Advantage is a privilege and not one’s right, especially when it’s the result of someone else doing their duty diligently. We can pick up several instances from nature.

Rain is not our right but advantage resulting from a team of dutybound elements in nature, like the ocean, Sun, clouds and trees.

One’s duty cannot be another’s right. It can only be an advantage or privilege at the most and is best honored that way. The moment we begin to exercise our right nature has its own language to tell us where we must draw the line.

wick burns and wax melts
candle genie on duty
light, an advantage

When wednesday came calling this big philosophy tried to pack itself in a little haiku.

Whether its nature or someone’s nature lets honor all those who are doing their duty, be it towards anything or anyone. Working against all odds so others may live in peace.

Happy wednesday, happy wellness day.

Haiku- drenched

Monday is raining gloom as cyclone ‘Gulab’ takes over. Offering a haiku in the hope that it soon returns Sun and sanity to our sky. Gulab is too sweet and fancy a name for a cyclone when it’s expected to unleash anything but roses.

Sun day six away
Gulab brushes off the blues
mundane Monday greys

Have a wonderful week and stay high on haiku!
